I came to Hastings as a child with my parents who ran a hairdressing business. I have worked and raised a family in tressell and both my children went to Castledown School.
I have a track record as a campaigner for environmental issues and am a member of Friends of the Earth. When plans to build a hotel on the beach were first suggested, I formed an action group to oppose it. The hotel idea has since been shelved. Having worked in a Special Needs School I understand the importance of early medical care, and I support the Save the Conquest campaign.
I am committed to the conservation of Hastings heritage and unique architecture. With the threat of Climate change effecting all our lives, I support the development of the Local Economy and think this is the way forward.
In Hastings we desperately need a change of Council control. For six years we suffered Labour's sky-high Council taxes leaving the Conservatives with a poisoned chalice. BUT nothing has improved under the Tory control. They have blown their chances with chronic Town Hall mismanagement and massive increases in Car Park charges.
How reliable are Labour's promises? That is one of the questions that many Hastings residents will be asking themselves as we approach the Borough elections on 1 May, and as various political letters and leaflets land on the doormat. If they have not already, I think many people will come to the conclusion that they are not reliable at all. |
